Straining made easy with thermohauser

Strainers - the professional device with large outlet holes

Strainers, or colanders, are characterised by larger outlet openings than sieves, which have a much finer mesh structure. This results in clear differences in the use of the two kitchen aids:

Strainers are ideal for separating liquids from solids, for example, as is the case when pouring off the boiling water from pasta; also for clarifying freshly milked milk or for washing salad.

Sieves, which you also find in the thermohauser assortment, are used to sift lumpy flour or icing sugar finely or to press off curd.

The characteristics of sieves and strainers

In addition to the larger outlet openings, strainers usually have a small stand ring. This allows this kitchen aid to be conveniently placed in the sink, while the cooking water from pasta or the liquid from pre-cooked and canned food can be drained off. The strainer does not need to be held until all the liquid is gone.

There are also strainers for special uses. thermohauser offers fruit draining sets in addition to a high-quality, round standard strainer. Fresh fruit can be juiced in them without any complications because the exactly fitting drip container catches the liquid. This can then be processed into juice or jelly.

All strainers are made of durable plastic that is food-safe. You can also use the containers to freeze food for a short time.

Sieves, on the other hand, are made of metal – usually stainless steel – or plastic rim with a mesh. The wire thickness and the mesh size determine how fine a sieve is and what it can be used for. The thermohauser assortment ranges from coarse-meshed kitchen sieves to very fine-meshed powdered sugar sieves.

The professional products from thermohauser are easy to clean in any case. Simply rinse the sieve or strainer under hot water with a little detergent. This is usually completely sufficient. Of course, these kitchen containers can also be cleaned in the dishwasher.
